The Blue Line Club will kick off the start of the hockey season with a picnic at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the pavilion at Kestner Waterfront Park in Houghton.

Head coach Mel Pearson and assistant coaches Billy Muckalt and Damon Whitten, as well as new and returning players, will attend.

The event is open to the public. Cost is $5 and includes hot dogs, hamburgers and soft drinks provided by the club. A dish to pass would be welcome.

The hockey Huskies will get back on the ice when they host the first game of the season, an exhibition match against Lakehead University, at 7:07 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1.
