Congratulations to John Scott

Congratulations to John Scott, Michigan Tech hockey alumnus (2002-06, ‘10 Mechanical Engineering) for his performance in the NHL All Star Weekend. Scott won MVP of the All Star Game, and later earned the NHL's first star of the week. Scott scored two goals in the semifinal game for the Pacific Division, both assisted by his former San Jose teammate Brent Burns (F, San Jose Sharks). Scott also jokingly dropped the gloves with Central Division captain and former teammate Patrick Kane (F, Chicago Blackhawks), although no penalties were given for a performance that had even the linesman laughing.

Ultimately, John Scott and the Pacific division won the four-team tournament and their share of $1 million. Earlier in the weekend, Scott nearly beat Corey Schneider (G, New Jersey Devils) with an impressive spin-o-rama in the shootout competition and registered 95.9mph in the hardest shot competition. Perhaps because of the controversy related to his entering the All Star Game, Scott was a fan and social media favorite in Nashville, receiving applause whenever he took the ice. He was all smiles the entire weekend.
