Only one team moved through the poll standings this week: Alaska dropped from 6th to 8th on the heels of a 5-2; 4-3 sweep by Michigan Tech in Houghton. That’s moderately surprising that they might move so far, given that it’s not like a sweep this weekend was unexpected, but perhaps our voters found the sweep to be definitive enough to warrant it.
Tech fans will note that the Huskies have fallen pretty firmly out of top-3 consideration, taking votes as low as 6th place. While this weekend’s series at Ferris probably can’t improve their position, the following two weekends at Bowling Green and versus Bemidji could allow them to climb back up. For that matter, all of this week’s matchups seem pretty lopsided; MTU@FSU is the closest matchup by poll position.
