With no series to review and very little hockey happening since our last podcast (a single series was played between Arizona State and Nebraska-Omaha over the weekend), there aren’t any highlights to include here. This podcast also doesn’t included any trimmed content for time. We even provided our regular listeners some of the patreon content that has been cut for time over the last couple weeks. Below is a list of all the content with approximate times:

  • Preview of the GLI (1:54)
  • Michigan/Michigan State Support of GLI (11:10)
  • Questions (18:50)
  • GLI Predictions (34:12)
  • GLI Question (Patreon Preview) (36:27)
  • WCHA Non-Conference Predictions (42:24)

One thing I brought up was the mLive.com Michigan College Hockey Power Rankings where I knew the Spartans and Huskies were #1 and #2 but I forgot which order. After getting a chance to double check, Ryan Zuke and whoever else helps him compile their rankings have the Spartans ahead of the Huskies with Michigan #5 and Ferris State #6 (both ahead of last place Lake State).

Matt Cavender’s piece taking a shot at Children of Yost and the Munnsters will be out tomorrow. I’ll add a link once its posted. I think he’s spot on that this tournament should be a holiday tradition for all 3 regulars, not just Michigan Tech.

After the GLI prediction segment, which was pretty short, because we’re all in agreement, the next 2 segments are from the last 2 weeks but were cut from the anchor version because of time. One was a question about how the GLI schedule works and the other was a longer discussion with Drew Evans about the upcoming month of non-conference hockey for the WCHA (We had that discussion before the MTU series with Clarkson so there are 2 less games left to see how they will play out.

Minnesota State and Bemidji State are both in Minneapolis this weekend to play in the Mariucci Classic with Minnesota and St. Cloud. LSSU is out in Vermont for the Catamount Cup. BGSU hosts Miami for a single game. UAH travels to Grand Forks for two games at North Dakota, and Michigan Tech finishes it up traveling to Arizona to play the Sun Devils. How many games do you think the WCHA will win including the GLI? GLI and Mariucci Classic make this challenging because what happens in the semi-finals determines how many actual non-conference games the WCHA will have.
