Michigan Tech pulled off a sweep at Ferris State outscoring the Bulldogs 5-2 on the weekend. On top of that, Colin Swoyer was recognized for the WCHA honor of Defenseman of the Week. From the WCHA press release:
Michigan Tech’s Colin Swoyer helped lead the Huskies to a WCHA sweep at Ferris State over the weekend as he led WCHA defensemen in points (three) and goals (two). The Hinsdale, Ill., native scored both of Tech’s goals Saturday in a 2-0 shutout, potting the game-winner 11:38 into the third period and then adding an empty-netter with 38 seconds left in the contest. Swoyer also assisted on Keegan Ford’s first period power play goal Friday. The sophomore defenseman has 17 points this season on four goals and 13 assists. This is Swoyer’s first career WCHA weekly honor.
Swoyer was the eighth Husky recognized for a WCHA weekly or monthly honor this season and the first since the GLI. His two goals on Saturday night were the only ones scored by the Huskies. Highlights of the weekend’s series are below:
