Colin Swoyer (Jr. Hillsdale, Ill) has been named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive time.
Swoyer led all WCHA defensemen in points this weekend with 2 assists. He also led the league in blocked shots, eating 6 biscuits on the weekend. Furthermore, he played an important role on the penalty kill unit, keeping the Wildcats scoreless in all 4 power play opportunities on the weekend. With the fine addition of this weekend’s performance, the Huskies penalty kill percentage currently sits at 95%.
This also marks the third time Swoyer has garnered Player of the Week honors in his career. Congratulations are in order for both Swoyer on this honor and for the Huskies on a successful weekend. After a sweep of the Wildcats, the Huskies stand above a .500 win percentage for the first time this season.
The Huskies (4-3-1) will return from the holiday break with a series in Houghton on January 2nd and 3rd against the Alabama Huntsville Chargers to begin conference play.
