Michigan Tech went into Madison, Wisconsin and swept the Badgers on the road for the firs time since 1974 outscoring the #13 ranked Wisconsin 10-3 on the weekend. Unsurprisingly, that dominant performance saw Michigan Tech ranked in the USCHO Poll for the first time since last season, when they were ranked four different weeks, peaking at #18 twice on February 15 and January 25. Michigan Tech was also the tops among the “others receiving votes” in the USA Today Poll which only ranks 15 teams. The domination also resulted in two separate Huskies winning CCHA weekly honors.

CCHA Forward of the Week: Alec Broetzman, Sr., Michigan Tech (Hudson, Wisc.)

Michigan Tech senior forward Alec Broetzman helped lead Michigan Tech to a non-conference road sweep at No. 13 Wisconsin. He had a CCHA-high five points on the weekend with two goals and three assists. Broetzman notched a goal each night, including the game-winner in the first period on Saturday.

CCHA Goalie of the Week: Blake Pietila, Jr., Michigan Tech (Howell, Mich.)

Michigan Tech junior goaltender Blake Pietila backstopped the Huskies to a non-conference sweep at No. 13 Wisconsin. He recorded 38 saves Friday in a 5-2 win and 21 saves Saturday in a 5-1 victory. Pietila tallied his 15th and 16th career wins this weekend. His 1.50 goals-against average and .952 save percentage led the CCHA and helped the Huskies go 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
